MARQUETTE MUSTANGS PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT

Format:

3 Pool Play games: 4 game guarantee

Teams are slotted in two (2) PODS (1 & 2). Each POD has 2 sides (A & B).

Teams will play the opposite side of their assigned POD for Pool Play.

5 minute warm-up

3 - 15-minute stop time periods

No ice cuts during the game

All teams should be ready to play 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time. Games may begin early.

Tournament Scoring:

 Each game (final score) is worth 3 pts total

 Winner gets 3pts -- Loser gets 0pts -- tied Game is 1.5pts per team

Pool Play Games may end in a tie.

TEAM ADVANCEMENT AND PLAYOFFS

The top three (3) teams in each POD (1 & 2) will advance, regardless of which Side (A or B) they were placed.

Teams that are tied in a POD will use the tiebreaker system below to see which team advances:

After THREE (3) teams that advance is determined per POD, teams are Seeded #1- #6 based on accumulated points, regardless

of which POD they were in.

To determine Seed position in the event of a tie, the following tiebreaker system will be used for the teams that are tied:

1: HEAD TO HEAD OF TEAMS THAT ARE TIED

2. MOST GAME WINS IN 3 POOL PLAY GAMES

3. LEAST GOALS AGAINST IN 3 POOL PLAY GAMES

4. TOTAL GOALS FOR MINUS TOTAL GOALS AGAINST DIFFERENTIAL FOR 3 POOL PLAY GAMES

5. LEAST PENALTY MINUTES

6. COIN FLIP

Once a team is eliminated in any tie breaker, the tiebreaker process is continued on in the order listed. Tiebreaker does not revert back to #1 for the remaining teams once a team is placed.

Seed #1 and Seed #2 will Auto advance to Semi-Finals

Semi-Finals

Semi-Final Game 1 Seed #1 vs Winner of Seed #4\#5 Game

Semi-Final Game 2 Seed #2 vs Winner of Seed #3\#6 Game

A tie at the end of regulation for a Quarter Final and\or Semi-Final game will go to a 3-player shootout.

The higher seed will have the option to go first or second.

After 3 shooters, shootout will convert to Sudden Death, keeping the same order.

A Shooter may not go again until every rostered skater has gone. If a rostered player is no longer available due to ejection, injury or other cause, that players shot will be determined a miss.

Final

Semi-Final Game 1 winner vs Semi-Final Game 2 Winner

A tie at the end of regulation in the Finals game will go to 5-minute Sudden Death 3v3.

Goalies will NOT change ends.

If there is no score after 5-minute period, above shootout format will be played

The teams not advancing to the Quarter Final round will play 4th Game

Rules:

This is a ZERO tolerance tournament. Coaches and team officials are responsible for the actions of their players, parents and fans. No refunds are provided for any team, player, parent or fan removed from the premises or tournament.

This is a USA Hockey Sanctioned Tournament. All USA Hockey and MSCHA rules will apply.

The tournament director has the final say for all rulings not applied by USA or MSCHA. All rulings are final.

Home team shall choose what color uniforms they will wear. If a team only has one color uniform, home team shall accommodate that team and wear their other uniform.

Player Eligibility:

Players must be listed on your tournament roster provided, prior to the beginning of the tournament, to

participate in any game. The tournament director has the final say on player and roster eligibility.

A Player must be rostered and have played in a minimum of one (1) Round Robin game to be eligible for Playoffs. Player(s)

listed on a game roster that are not in attendance on the bench for that game will be ineligible for all playoff games.

All players must be of High School Age (9th-12th grade).
